February 2008:  Our sister kennel, Alpine Ridge, of Ramsey, MN currently has puppies on the ground.  Contact Greg Piela for additional information.  Click here for contact information.

Sire and Dam are Jabulani-bred dogs -- CH Alpine Ridge Akiizi Bua of Freland Jabulani (below, left) and CH Alpine Ridge Kama Annakiya of Jabulani (below, right).

Jabulani is thinking forward to a possible Spring/Summer '08 litter.  Further details will be posted here as our plans materialize.

As always, Jabulani pups are only placed in pre-screened, pre-approved homes.

Inquires are being accepted at this time.

Information about Jabulani Puppies:

While all our dogs are family members and trusted companions first and foremost, Jabulani has been an active show kennel since 1987.  Statistically however, about 97% of all purebred dogs are sold as family companions.  So chances are good that you are viewing my web page with a companion Rhodesian Ridgeback in mind.  I think that's GREAT.  ...and I also think you've come to the right place!

All Rhodesian Ridgebacks bred under the Jabulani name -- both show-potential dogs and companions alike -- carry a written guarantee.  All dogs and bitches in my breeding program have undergone the appropriate health testing and evaluation by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) to ensure they are free of hip and elbow dysplasia.  In addition, my ridgebacks are also undergoing thyroid and cardiac testing as appropriate.

When a co-breeding takes place, I interview all prospective new owners and place the resulting puppies in conjunction with the litter's co-owners.  These breedings are also guaranteed by Jabulani.  If Jabulani places a show-potential dog, but it doesn't develop into a show quality Ridgeback at adulthood, I will adjust the price or place another dog with the family so they can have a show dog that will be successful in the show ring.

Because of the breed's physical beauty and athletic ability, the Rhodesian Ridgeback breed has a very broad public appeal, but they are NOT the ideal breed for everyone.  Prior to placement, I send breed information packets to all interested parties.  Then, I conduct an interview in my home and carefully educate each family to make sure that a Rhodesian Ridgeback is a compatible and appropriate breed for them.  After each puppy goes home to his or her new family, I do my best to help each family adjust to their new family member.  However, if for any reason a family cannot keep their dog, it must come back to Jabulani -- no questions asked.  The Jabulani kennel is its family and I will always welcome a dog home.

Puppies are always born in my 'den,' and each puppy is socialized from the moment it is born until the day comes that they go home with their new families.  All puppies are temperament tested to ensure that each is appropriate matched to the family that is right for each of them.  My veterinarian thoroughly examines each puppy to ensure that the litter is healthy, all vaccinations and wormings are kept current, and each pup is thoroughly checked for dermoid sinus prior to leaving Jabulani.

Even if you have trained a dog before, I require that all Jabulani puppies go to puppy kindergarten and basic obedience classes.  This ensures that you and your puppy learn to communicate with each other.  These learning experiences, even for the seasoned dog owner, are invaluable to you and your new puppy and the knowledge that both you and your dog gain will last a lifetime.
